 Macy's Parade BINGO 2024

Like most Americans, we start our Thanksgiving by watching Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade every year. Let's be honest though younger kiddos have a hard time staying engaged watching with all the commercials & cut-in commentary!

So I made these fun Bingo cards to play while watching the parade a little bit more fun & keep kids engaged in the parade! I did photos instead of words for younger kids who can not read yet! This card is specific to 2021! Don't worry about Bingo markers, you can just use a marker to "X" when you find the float or balloon!

In 2023, I changed it up a bit after a few years ago I had seen The House that Lars Built and saved it then completely forgot about it until it came up in my timehop last year. It was pretty simple to put together, the buildings were just Amazon boxes I had in recycling & used the back of old wrapping paper I had for an all white paper to wrap them!

The taxis I had gotten off Amazon HERE. The balloons I ran around town trying to find. I was able to find some at some grocery stores & at Party City.

As for BINGO, What happens when you win? Well, you could play just for fun & no real prize!  Or, maybe you win getting the first piece of pie after dinner or helping Mom with a Thanksgiving dish!

My girls fight over who helps peel the potatoes {one year I am going to remember to buy more peelers} It is up to you how you want to play!

I made 4 cards for you to choose from!

The Polar Express Train Ride at St. Louis Union Station | Family Christmas Getaway Guide

The Polar Express Train Ride at St. Louis Union Station

The Polar Express Train Ride at St. Louis Union Station Going on the Polar Express has become one of our favourite family traditions — and this year we took it next level by heading to St. Louis Union Station for the exclusive Polar Express™ Train Ride. If you’re planning a magical holiday getaway with kids who love trains (hello, Bo!), this guide gives you everything you need: ticket types, what to expect, what to wear, and what else there is to do at the station beyond the ride. We have been to St. Louis before {check out our trip HERE} & stayed at St. Louis Union Station, they had mentioned they wanted us to come back as they were undergoing a major renovation. It has changed SO much since we were there in 2019! It was already great but now there are a million things to do right on the property! Things like, an aquarium, more restaurants, a giant Ferris wheel, mirror maze, and during November & December they offer the Polar Express!

The St. Louis Polar Express is Disney-level magic! It was so so well organized & the actors were amazing! We had the most magical time!

The St. Louis Union Station Polar Express go on sale well before Thanksgiving, and trust me — they sell out fast.

The ride is hosted on a real train that departs from the historic station, complete with dancing chefs serving hot chocolate, a live reading of The Polar Express, and Santa himself handing out the famous silver sleigh bell — “the first gift of Christmas.”
The experience lasts about 45 minutes, but the real secret is to arrive at least an hour early. The train leaves right on time, and there’s so much to see before you even board. You’ll get your wristbands, explore photo ops, and watch the excitement build as families line up in their matching pajamas. We booked a hotel-and-ride package right at Union Station, which made it even more special. The lobby alone was worth it — decked in garland, twinkling lights, and a massive Christmas tree. Staying onsite meant no rushing, no parking stress, and plenty of time to explore the rest of the station afterward.

3. What to Wear to the Polar Express Train Ride

If you’ve never been before, yes pajamas are encouraged. Families go all in on the cozy Christmas vibe, and it adds to the magic. The weather can swing wildly in December, so I recommend layers: pajama sets with slippers for photos and a warm jacket for the waiting area. You’ll thank me later when the wind whips through the platform and you’re standing there clutching your cocoa.

4. What happens? Where do we go?

From their website :
THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride is a re-creation of the classic children’s story on board a real train. Passengers are served hot chocolate and a treat by dancing chefs, enjoy a reading of the book by Chris Van Allsburg, and receive the first gift of Christmas (a silver sleigh bell) after Santa boards the train to greet families. Elves lead passengers in caroling and fun holiday activities on the return trip to Union Station.
Where do we go:
Why the north pole of course! :)

How long is the ride:
The ride itself is about 45 mins long.

Please please do arrive early. There is fun stuff to do ahead of time & plenty of photo ops. They depart promptly at your reserved time. They will not wait for you. If you are traveling to get here, like us, leave with ample time! We leave with wanting to get there a little over an hour early.

Our Experience on the St Louis Polar Express

Once we boarded, it was pure Christmas joy. The car attendants burst into song, cocoa was poured, and the story began to unfold , complete with sound effects and laughter echoing through the train. Watching my kids press their faces to the windows, wide-eyed as Santa stepped aboard, was one of those parenting moments you just tuck away forever. At the end of the ride, every child receives their own silver sleigh bell — a perfect keepsake that somehow feels just as magical as the book describes.

5. Extra Fun

-The ride itself is enough. But, after you pick Santa up at the North Pole he comes on board & you are able to grab a photo with him on the train. Then, he gives the first gift a Christmas. Just as he did in the Polar Express, it's a bell. It's great quality & engraved with the "Polar Express" on it.
-They have a gift shop full of amazing souvenirs. Like the conductor's hat, light-up wands, you can buy the actual book there, ornaments, etc.

-There are a few photo opportunities while you are there. In the gift shop, they have where you can buy prints on-site or buy them digitally.

6. What else is there to do?
We didn't leave St. Louis station the few days we were there & had a ton of stuff to do! Here is all that is offered:

The Train Shed
This is a restaurant on property at St. Louis station, decked to the NINES in Christmas decor. I had some kind of decor hanging from every inch of this place. They even have a fun festive drink menu. No reservations are needed, first come first serve.

- Build A Bear Headquarters
Again, right at St. Louis Union Station they have the build a bear headquarters! You can make a bear {they even have a polar express one available}

- The Wheel & Carousel
Take a ride on the giant Ferris wheel! The cars are climate-controlled so you don't have to worry about being cold! You get a great view of St. Louis Union Station & can even see the arch!

- Lobby projection show
This was one of our favorite things on our last visit, now for Christmas they have a Christmas Projection show. It is so much fun!

- St. Louis Station Aquarium
It sounds crazy but there is an actual aquarium here there on property to visit!

- Fire Show
This was another family favorite on our last visit! This time the pyrotechnics were set to Christmas music! Was so so cool!

There is STILL more to do, like a rope course, mini golf & mirror maze that was didn't even get to!
I can't remember the St. Louis Union Station enough it was the most magical time!

Is The Polar Express Train Ride at St Louis Union Station  worth It?

Absolutely. For our family, this trip felt like Christmas magic bottled up into one weekend. Between the vintage train ride, the Santa meet-and-greet, and all the extra holiday fun around St. Louis Union Station, it was more than just a seasonal outing — it was a memory. If you’re looking for a holiday getaway that blends nostalgia and modern fun, this is it.

Back to School Breakfast | First Day of School Breakfast

There is something about the First Day of school morning! It's easier to wake up that early & there is so much excitement for the year ahead! Starting off the day with a yummy fun breakfast always makes my kiddos feel so special & creates a fun memory.

Here is the breakfast I did this year, I chose to do a fairly simple waffle bar! Kennedy is in 8th grade, Kensley in 6th & Bo starts preschool in a couple weeks. He will only go twice a week for a few hours in the morning!

Hudson's Masters Hole in One First Birthday

Hudson is ONE!
Something that is so crazy to me is over 10 years ago I had this private Pinterest board that was titled "My imaginary son" I would just pin cute boy clothes and stuff like that longing to have a boy possibly one day. One of the things I pinned on that board was also birthday parties and one of the themes was Master's Golf Tournament party. I had thought about it for Bo's first birthday but he was just so into Mickey Mouse that was the only that suited him.

Well, not only do I have now TWO boys, but the moment right after I gave birthday to Hudson I realized it was Master's Weekend! So, of course, the theme of his birthday would be Masters Tournament Hole in ONE birthday! So so, crazy how life works out.

This party was extremely last minute. I had no time to order him a custom Masters jacket.
I put my DIY mind to work & was able to order this jacket
Then dye it with this dye, which was THE perfect Masters Jacket green. It ended up costing me less than $20 to make.
Then ironed on the patch. I DID have the exact patch they use, but I didn't realize my iron was so hot & when I went to put it on it completely melted through and another wouldn't arrive in time so I had to to settle for another patch I had on hand.
I added a golf hat, because, well look how cute? & these cute green & white shoes pulled it all together.

I went super simple for the cake. This party was extremely last minute & was unable to book our cake girl.
I found out about custom cakes you can build right on Walmart. So I got a completely bare cake & just added this golf cart on top.
Now, I KNOW there are no golf carts are used at Augusta, okay, but it was cute.

For the leaderboard, I made the scoreboard part on Canva & printed it out at Walmart. Used styrofoam board & spray-painted it green. Used my Cricut to cut the Masters Logo.

Masters Pimento Cheese Sandwiches

I served all the food that is available on Masters weekend: Pimento Cheese Sandwiches and Egg Salad Sandwiches. All the Traditional drinks like the Azalea & Arnold Palmers. I even made Peach Ice Cream Sandwiches but forgot to get photos.

I used these baskets & liners to put out the sandwiches.

The chip bags I made myself. I made the label on Canva & printed it on heavy hard stock & used this crimper to make the seams while using some hot glue to seal.

Personalized Photo Golf Ball Party Favors

I did personalized golf balls with Hudson's face on them as party favors. These we such a hit & such a fun keepsake.
You can order them HERE

I was able to search Ebay to find a Master's Teddy Bear from the year her was born to use as decor but also a keepsake for him to keep forever.

I served all the traditional drinks you get in Augusta at the Masters.
For the cups, I bought frosted cups just like at Augusta & put the decal on myself.
The frosted cups are a little more expensive online but if you have Gordons Foods near you they were much more reasonable.
I used these cup golf tee picks for the cherries & lemon garnish, again I went as traditional as possible. I also used these to put through the club sandwiches I served.

I bought these cutie golf ball cups for the kiddos!

If it isn't obvious, I made the smash cake myself.
I used a half-circle cake pan & white fondant.
I tried many different objects to get the indents & for the life of me can't remember what ended up being the perfect shape but I feel like it was a wooden Melissa & Doug carrot from the boys play kitchen HA!

I wore the classic caddie uniform.
I used this outfit & cut out the vinyl myself.
